Phonaton field trip yesterday!

I joined phonaton initially for the good pay and a job that sounded pretty easy.(being totally honest here haha) but as I come to know more about this job, I realised what I am about to be doing is going to be pretty meaningful.

Phonaton has created an awareness in the NUS alumni about giving back to the school to help the needy students get an education in NUS without having to worry about their financial situation. and the greatest gift through phonaton by far had been $10 000!! gosh!!

we had a field trip ytd with all the callers around the school!

the most exciting part of the whole field trip is a trip to Bollywood Veggies!! It is an amazing place! (Lyon!! u must gooo!!! i actually pictured u working there i swear.)

a small signboard that happened to caught my attention gives a summary of the feel of the place Nature is the way to the future and like what Ivy Singh, the witty (she is reallly hilarious i tell u) owner of the plant farm cum restaurant said "One day, when all the fishes in the sea have died, and there is not a drop of water left in the sea (something like this i really cant rmb the exact words), we will start to realised that we cannot eat our money." its true, isnt it? how we are compromising our enviroment to boost our economy. we have to find a way to be sustainable! nature is the wayyyy!!

First of all, the food was really yummy! esp the kang kong!! its a must try! and the warrior chicken curry. for desserts, try the sweet and natural hot fig tea with banana cake!!!! moist and soft!!

there are lotsa interesting sight in the farm as we went on a guided tour. There are many common plants and fruits that we see and eat in our everyday life! We saw the mint leaves, vanilla tree (for goodness sake it takes 20 yrs to harvest the seeds!! vanilla is rare and good stuff! ahaha), tomatoes, ginger, aloe vera.. many many more!

the entire farm is organic (meaning no unhealthy pesticides) and we can just grab, smell, taste anything and everything along the way! bring some home to plant them if u want!

the most unforgettable part would be sugarcanes! they grow those too! and those pakistan callers are damn good at eating them! ck mastered the art of it too. it was a hilarious sight watching everyone chewing and spitting it out again!
